L’area portuale di Heijplaat a Rotterdam sarà riqualificata nei prossimi 25 anni.  Per portare l’attenzione su di essa, Follydock ha organizzato un concorso internazionale per bizzarrie architettoniche.  Questo progetto, “shelter shells”, si ispira a forme organiche e vuole creare un luogo per la meditazione in un ambiente coinvolgente e piacevole a vedersi.  Dai circa 400 progetti della prima fase, questo è stato selezionato con altri per la seconda fase, che cercherà di costruire da 20 a 40 bizzarrie per la Biennale di architettura 2007 a Rotterdam.  I plastici dei progetti selezionati sono stati in mostra al NAi (Netherlands Architecture institute) fino al 24/9/06.

 

The harbour area of Heijplaat Rotterdam will be developed in the next 25 years. In order to draw attention on this area, Follydock has organized an international competition for architectural follies. This design, “shelter shells”, is inspired by organic shapes and is aimed to provide a place for meditation in an inspiring and visually pleasing environment.

From the nearly 400 entries of the 1st phase, this design has been selected with others for the 2nd that will attempt to build from 20 to 40 follies for the architecture Biennale 2007 in Rotterdam. The models of the selected design have been displayed in an exhibition at the NAi (Netherlands Architecture institute) until 24/9/06
